Dinner Party DIY: Tablecloth Stickers
When it comes to hosting a dinner party, the details matter. A beautifully styled table can take your event to the next level, but let’s be real—some tablescape items, like embroidered tablecloths, can be pricey. Plus, they’re not always customizable or practical for different themes. Insert: Tablecloth Stickers! They give you the embroidered look without the hefty price tag, and the best part? You can completely customize it for every dinner party.
What you’ll need:
a plain tablecloth
adhesive vinyl
vinyl cutter
transfer tape
scissors
How-to:
Plan Your Design
Start by deciding what kind of look you want for your tablecloth. Our first stop is always Pinterest for some inspo. Are you going for a girly, floral aesthetic? A modern doodle pattern? A funky theme with words or phrases? The sky’s the limit. Sketch out your design on paper or use design software like Canva to map it out.
hauste hint: Make sure your design isn’t too intricate, especially if this is your first time working with vinyl. Bold, simple shapes or text work best.
2. Cut Your Vinyl
Using your vinyl cutter, load the vinyl sheets and cut out your designs. Full disclosure, our mom is the one with the machine and is a rockstar at any and all vinyl projects. Thanks mom!!! xx
3. Prepare Your Tablecloth
Lay your tablecloth on the table and smooth out any wrinkles. Use your dishware and glassware to map out where your vinyl designs will go.
4. Apply the Vinyl
Using transfer tape, peel your vinyl decals and position them on the tablecloth. Press firmly to ensure they stick well.
hauste hint: Use a credit card or smoothing tool to press the vinyl down and remove any air bubbles
5. Style Your Table
Once your design is complete, set your table with candles, dinnerware, glassware, and other decor elements to bring your theme to life. The vinyl will stay securely in place for the duration of your dinner party!
6. Clean Up & repeat
The beauty of this DIY is that it’s temporary! When your dinner party is over, simply peel off the vinyl decals and toss the tablecloth in the wash. You’ll have a blank canvas ready for your next design.
