7 Parties to Hauste Post-Hosting Season
Holiday hosting is officially over!
The week between Christmas and the New Year (plus, let’s be honest, the first week of the New Year), are reserved for all the R&R you can get. The holiday season is one and the same with the hosting season, and even the most expert, nonstop-endurance haustes need to take five once Christmas comes to a close.
After a week or two of taking a well-deserved beat, the hausting bug always manages to creep its way back to the forefront of your mind – you want to try out a new recipe, you’re craving a full table full with conversation, and your new candlesticks that Santa dropped off have been looking at you with a twinkle in their eye.
Because Valentine’s Day is much too far away, we’ve crafted a lineup of 7 parties to host between now and then that romanticize the so-often-forgotten-about month of January (& beyond).
1. award show watch party
Whether you tune in for the best & worst dressed or to cross your fingers that Jennifer Coolidge wins an Oscar, award shows are the perfect reason to gather. The outfits, the speeches & the drama provide the ultimate conversation starters to discuss over small bites amidst your very-own Hollywood-esque soirée. Needing some inspo on how to throw a glitz’d & glam’d award show watch party fit for the stars? Get inspired with our Award Show Hot Take.
2. make it take out
If you’re craving togetherness but still not quite in the cooking swing of things, we have just the party. Invite all of your friends to bring over their go-to grab-and-go meal for a takeout smorgasbord of everyone’s favorites. We still love to set the table and open a few good bottles of wine so the evening maintains a dinner party vibe – but without all the cooking and cleaning that goes on behind the scenes.
3. seasonal harvest
When menu planning seems to be the hardest part of dinner party curation, allow Mother Nature to do it for you. Not only does it make your life easier, but buying in-season produce ensures you’re getting the freshest, tastiest vegetables and fruits for your meal. Look up a list of seasonal produce in your area, pick a few of your favorites, then search recipes containing those selections. P.S. Usually the on-sale produce is what’s in-season & that’s a win-win in our book.
4. Double date night
Call up your favorite couple friends & get a double date night in the books. A four-person dinner party is the perfect way to dip your toes back into hosting (and doubling one of our For Two Hauste Its makes it that much easier). Ask the couple to bring their favorite bottle of wine and, as always, prep as much as you can ahead of time so you can enjoy the evening alongside your guests. No waiting for your server, no interruptions during deep convos, no splitting checks – just an easy, intimate gathering with the people you love most.
5. espresso martini soiree
Nothing gets a party going like a round of espresso martinis & this Hauste It created in collaboration with Absolut provides the kickstart you and your friends need post-holiday season. It’s warm & homey (which everyone appreciates during January storms & cold fronts) but with a festive vibe that reminds everyone to keep the New Years vibes going all year long.
6. playoff party
This party doesn’t care if you can name each NFL logo or tell us how many yards there are in a football field – all it knows is how to gourmet your game day so all playoff parties are enjoyable for all attendees. Typical bowls of tortilla chips & jarred salsas – no more. Our blog features a “Gourmet Gameday” series with an array of leveled-up game day recipes that promise happy vibes through win or loss.
7. resolution brunch
Because that unfailing ambition & motivation always seem to inevitably trickle off after the first week of the New Year, hosting a Resolution Brunch at the end of January and even into the beginning of February is the perfect way to re-engage with the goals you set. Our New Year’s Resolution Brunch Hot Take outlines a menu, aesthetic, musical landscape, and vision boarding how-to that gets you and your friends refocused for the year ahead (while also cheersing to new beginnings with mimosas and lavender lattes in hand).
