Matcharita
Matcha + Tequila = Matcharita
by jacqueline from golden rule Spirits
As the Content Creator for Golden Rule Spirits, I've gotten pretty familiar with what a good margarita should taste like. My best friend and I have made this recipe countless times, and it never fails to be a conversation starter.
Matcha (the star of the show) is not just a morning coffee alternative! If you want to spice up your Golden Rule Marg (substitute it for the tequila/ lime/ Cointreau) or just try a new cocktail, the Matcharita is a spin on a classic and will also satisfy your caffeine addiction for the day.
The ceremonial grade matcha for this recipe is a must – especially if you want the vibrant green color and slightly sweet taste. Traditionally, matcha is whisked into hot water, but for the purpose of this recipe it's mixed into tequila.
Matcharita Ingredients:
2 oz of tequila (reposado is my favorite)
1 oz of Cointreau
Juice of half a lime
Drizzle of agave (if you like it sweeter)
1 teaspoon of ceremonial grade matcha powder
1 tablespoon of matcha + sugar to garnish
equipment:
Matcha whisk or handheld frother
Stirring glass
Ice strainer
Low ball margarita glass
Step 1
Add tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, agave, and matcha powder to a stirring glass and mix in the matcha with a matcha whisk or handheld frother
Step 2
Stir in some ice to chill
Step 3
Grab a low ball or short tumbler glass and rim the edge with lime juice
Step 4
Mix the matcha & sugar garnish together in a flat bowl or plate and dip the rim of the glass in
Step 5
Add some fresh ice to your new, garnished glass
Step 6
Strain out the old ice and pour in your Matcharita
Step 7
Add a slice of lime for some extra citrus
