Gourmet Gameday: In-N-Out Egg Rolls

Our favorite fast food all wrapped up in an elevated gameday snack!

Ingredients

secret sauce:

  • 1 cup mayo

  • 3 tbsp ketchup

  • ¼ cup pickles, diced

  • 1 tbsp pickle juice

  • ½ tsp sugar

  • ½ tsp mustard

EGG ROLLS:

  • 1 small yellow onion, diced

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • ¼ cup pickles, chopped

  • 1 cup iceberg lettuce, chopped

  • 1 tbsp mustard

  • 12 slices of American cheese

  • 1 package of egg roll wrappers

  • 24 oz peanut oil

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

*makes 20 egg rolls! & we like to cut in half so technically makes 40

Step 1

To make the secret sauce, add all the sauce ingredients to a small bowl and mix until combined. Taste for seasoning & store in the refrigerator until ready to serve!

Step 2

Add the diced onion to a pan with butter over medium-low heat. Sauté until golden brown, adding 1 tbsp of water to the pan if it gets dry.

Step 3

Remove onions from the pan and turn the heat to medium-high. Add in ground beef and spread out on the pan to let the meat get a good crisp.

Step 4

Add mustard and combine. then add 2 sliced of American cheese and mix until melted and combined.

Step 5

To a large mixing bowl, add ground beef, caramelized onions, pickles, iceberg lettuce and mix.

Step 6

To assemble the egg rolls, take one wrapper and position it with the point facing you. Then place a half slice of cheese and ¼ cup of filling to the center. Dip your finger in a bowl of water and wet all four edges. Fold the bottom corner up and pull tight, then fold the side corners in. Roll from the bottom up like a burrito and press to ensure the edges are sealed!

Step 7

Heat peanut oil to 350 degrees in a large dutch oven or pot and carefully place the egg rolls in the oil (we did 4 at a time!). Fry for about 1 minute and 30 seconds per side, then remove and place on a wire rack.

hauste hint: if you don’t want to fry in oil, air fryer works great!

Step 8

To serve, cut the egg rolls in half on an angle. Serve with secret sauce and garnish with sesame seeds!
